Charity Concert initiated by Ukrainian-Austrian Association

Thanks to the partnership with Rotary Club Wien-Mozart and Rotary Club Kyiv International Business, UAA hosted a great concert at Ehrbar Saal in Vienna on 21 September 2022 with opera stars Susanna Chakhoian, National Opera of Ukraine, and Jörg Schneider, Vienna Staatsoper, accompanied by the wonderful pianist Istvan Bonyhady and the marvellous violinist Russell McGregor who was also a perfect moderator.

The delightful atmosphere in this architectural and acoustic jewel, was well booked by a classy and generous audience which really also enjoyed the Meet & Greet with champagne and sandwiches following the concert.

Net proceeds of EURO 10,000 will be spent on support of needy people of Ukraine.

Ukraine Forum in Istanbul on 21 & 22 July 2022

The Global Economic Impact Forum on Ukraine - www.tgeif.org - on 21&22 July in Istanbul was certainly one of the biggest gathering of top-class business people from all continents.

It was an honour for our president Alfred F. Praus to co-organize, moderate and speak as representative of ICBAC and UAA at this essential forum.

A wide range of panels reached and audience of 500+ on site and many more online. They dealt with the domestic and international impact of the war, energy issues, export obstacles, disrupted supply chains, logistic problems and many more aspects.

Several members of Verkovna Rada and Parliamentary Committee leaders like the Secretary of the National Investment Council Halyna Yanchenko, the head of the Parliamentary Committee of Foreign Affairs and Interparliamentary Cooperation Yelyzateva Yasko and Chairman of the Economic Affairs Committee Dmytro Natalukha delivered valuable contributions. Not to mention several high ranking politicians from European countries and even Africa, besides a series of commercial attachees.

Among the 70 speakers were, just to name a few, Director of EBA Ukraine Anna Derevyanko and the leaders of ICBAC members like Gennadiy Chizhikov (UCCI), Burak Pehlivan (TUID), Emma Turos (CUCC), Denis Jatsyshyn (USUBC) and our President.

The discussion in the panel "Ukrainian industry - Status quo and how to move forward" with representatives of ICBAC, Anna Derevyanko and two cluster leaders was certainly among the most essential during the forum.

John Denton, Secretary General of the International Chamber of Commerce, delivered a keynote paper and honoured the chambers and business associations in Ukraine for their tireless work in support of the Ukrainian economy.

Last not least speakers, diplomats and VIP attendants enjoyed a great dinner cruise on the Bosporus in a very pleasant atmosphere and with plenty of networking.

The great success of the forum may lead to creating a jour fixe once a year.

Dr. Erhard Busek ✟

It is in a great saddness we are announcing that the Chairman of our Supervisory Board, former Vice-Chancellor of Austria Dr. Erhard Busek unexpectedly passed away on a Sunday night.

With him an outstanding and highly esteemed European personality, who has tirelessly supported our UAA, has transitioned to the eternity, leaving us missing him forever.

Rest in peace, dear Dr. Busek!
