On Wednesday, December 4, 2019, Alfred F. Praus and UAA had the privilege to host at Admiral Hall on a symbolic venue indeed, namely at Maidan, the presentation of the Ukrainian version of the book “Central Europe Revisited” by Ambassador Dr. Emil Brix and Dr. Erhard Busek, followed by a panel discussion also dealing with the implications for and the impact on Ukraine.
Emil Brix: formerly Director of the Section for Cultural Relations in the Austrian foreign ministry, Austrian Ambassador to Great Britain and Russia and now director of the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna, and Erhard Busek: President of the Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe in Vienna, former Vice-Chancellor of Austria, coordinator of the Stability Pact for South-East Europe and long-term president of the European Forum Alpbach and president of the Supervisory Council of UAA from its very beginning, were reading excerpts of their book in the original German.
The parallel Ukrainian texts were read (with simultaneous translation into English) by Evgeni Nishchuk, “voice of the Maidan” during the Revolution of Dignity and former minister of culture of Ukraine.
The following panel discussion with the two gentlemen as well as with the journalist and publisher Vitali Portnikov and the member of Verkovna Rada, Mykola Kniazhytsky developed into a vivid exchange of positions.
The Austrian ORF was recording the whole event; UA-TV was interviewing Emil Brix and Erhard Busek.

UAA creates its IT-pool in Dnipro, Ukraine
It is not a secret that Ukraine has developed a very potent IT-industry over the past years and this industry is ever growing rapidly. Meanwhile Austria, like all Western Europe, is experiencing a severe deficit of IT-developers. In this context, UAA, upon being approached not once by Austrian companies to assist in filling their respective supply gaps, eventually has developed an IT-pool composed of competent and reliable companies in Dnipro within one of the prime IT-hubs in Ukraine.
UAA, in its bridge function, is offering to accompany Austrian and Western Europe companies in need to guide and assist them in establishing a viable outsourcing, outstaffing or establishing a joint venture or a stand-alone Ukrainian subsidiary.
